Does anybody still play this? And what happened to the scanlation project? Oo

If anyone wants to help, let me know. If no one wants to help, well, then this project is scrapped. : /

Yugioh is actually a pretty good card game.

OP was good, it was just sloppily handled. Most anime card games fail, because they rely too heavily on the anime for their gameplay.

I havn't given up on the scanlation project, it's just that the Zatch Bell card game became dioscontinued, and I liked that more than One Piece, so I've been working on that.

Stuff has been happening, and I havn't been able to get the money to support it either, so... I can't really get started on it until I get a new job. Mad

;p Yes, I remember you, Dragon~ I got (back) here a day or 2 ago when Luffy helped me 'remember' my password.. <<;

Okay, so, the game isn't dead, and people are still willing to scanlate, but they just need the means, right? Well, I've got another friend from the old board who is willing to help. What we need right now is someone who can translate German and/or Japanese (which language translator we get will determine which language cards we buy to scanlate). He has said that he can try buying the cards.

We also need editors, card straighteners, and... : / think that's about it for now. The mIRC channel for dueling should be going up on my site sometime within the next month. If we make an effort, we might be able to have some cards done before then~ ;]

Any chance I know this person from the old site? Who are they? I'd be glad to help in any way I can, but I really am not good with translations, and have no softwhere to really do anything specific.

I pretty much have everything. I myself can translate [although I have a friend help with Japanese], I have the programs to change the text on the scans to make them look really nice, but... the only thing I need is for someone to get me the scans, since I am unable to buy at this moment. Mad

If we have at least *1* person who can translate, that'd be great. :]

Those of you who want to help but can't edit, scan, or translate: We could people with a good eye and enough time to straighten cards. : /

The cards, after being scanned, need to be straightened (as straight as possible) so that when the text gets edited on it is in line with the rest of the card. If the cards are crooked when the text gets edited on, the cards tend to look sloppy. Yes, the text can always be slanted to make up for a slanted card, but it may not always be consistent, and the cards would have to be straightened before printing anyway. It's alot easier, and looks better, to just straighten them before editing.

The program I use for straightening is IrFanView:

It has a 'custome fine rotation' option that lets you rotate something to one tenth of a degree. The rotating would have to be done manualy, and it usualy takes me 3 - 5 minutes per card, depending in how tired I am and how hard it is to guage the card's straightness. ;p

But even at 3 - 5 minutes, when you're doing an entire series of about 150 cards, than can take *hours* (3 minutes x 150 = 450 minutes = 7 and a half hours, approximately).

What takes a fair amount of time is the scanning and straightening. Those who have straightened for a while go faster because they're used to the job. Those who have scanned for a while go faster because they're used to the job too. Those who edit with a program like Photoshop, especialy if the original language's text is already edited off the cards and the translations are already written out so that they only need to copy and paste, can do their job in a fairly small amount of time in comparison to everything else that needs to get done.

So Purio, you're on translating. You're also on editing, for the moment, but if we get another editor we're going to push the workload on him/her and let you focus on translations.

The guy I was talking to calls himself quaversk (or something like that -too lazy to look it up ;p ), and he's willing to buy and scan cards. He may be willing to edit too, but I'm not sure.

I think we need 1 more editor, and another translator would always be helpful.

Now for Straighteners: I think we need 3. Thay's a good, solid number getting things done, especially if we get another Scanner working with the team.

IrFanView is free to download, and pretty easy to use. If you want to be a straightener, say so, and I'll give you details on how exactly I do it and a few tricks to save time.

Purio, Quavers says that German cards are easily available through places like eBay and such and suggested we buy and scan those because finding a Japanese translator might be a bit tough, considering how much they are in demand. Which do you prefer translating, and are there any significant differences between the wording on the Japanese and German cards?

As for delivery system, probably my site.

I've got a printing template worked out already, as well as what size the cards would need to be resized at to fit in a standard card sleeve. What we need to work out now is a font that is readable (and still looks good) on cards when resized to that size.

For Gundam War, the other team scans the cards at 300dpi for editing, and once everything is done it gets sent to me. I'm planning on resizing it to the same size as the scans on my site and uploading the nice, big scanlated cards for everyone to see. For the printing, the cards would have to be resized quite small (100dpi-size, or approximately 282 pxiels wide) to fit into a standard card sleeve, like the current English OP cards do.

If someone else is going to handle the resizing, let me know. If I'm going to be the one handling it, then everything to do with the cards should be done in .bmp (bitmap) because I run a dinosaur and can't open photoshop files... x.x; (Also, bitmap files don't merge the image like... just about every other format does, so by the time we have the cards at printing-size everything should still be crisp)

So, Role Call: Who is doing what?

Okay, considering the news that One Piece is coming back in an English dub, I'm going to first talk to Bandai about all this and find out if we *can* at all bring this game back officialy, and what it would take. At the moment we're working on mobilizing the Gundam War project with the intent on bringing that game back, and we might be able to do something similar here...

If so, then we have direction and purpose in our mission and would have to choose our card series' carefully for scanlation... we'd need to keep it balanced and with good gameplay for promotional material that would help get (and keep) players interested in the game...

So I'll get back to you on this again later. : /

Anyone can translate, the internet has many translators. I still play this game, but I can no longer find a store to find the cards.
