Extermination Episode 79: Until We Meet Again (Part 1)




Alexis and Bella brought Claire inside as Dakota followed. Bella managed to get her bleeding under control and stabilized her.

With that behind them, Valon and Ken continued working on the laser until it was finally complete.

Alexis said, “****, that thing doesn’t look that big. You sure it can take out Ganner’s laser?”

Valon said, “We’re going to have to hope that it can. Now everyone, I’m going to need you all to help me set this up.”

Bella said, “Where do you want it set up?”

Valon replied, “I have the perfect place already in mind.”

Everyone followed Valon as he and Ken carried the laser out the door. The streets were desolate because people all decided to look themselves in their cellars hoping that they’d save themselves.

After about thirty minutes of walking, they came to the park. Valon lead everybody to the center of the park.

He said, “This is it folks.”

Bella said, “You think this spot is good enough?”

Valon said, “Yes, I do. If this spot doesn’t work, no spot will.”

Valon placed the laser on the ground.

Ken asked, “So what do we do now?”

Valon replied, “We wait.”

The time ticked away, until only 2 hours were left. 120:00

Meanwhile, Ganner had landed his helicopter back at one of the sites he had bombarded with grenades. Not a living soul was around but dead bodies were scattered everywhere.

Jaden was the first to awake with Alister and Sho waking soon after. Ganner took them out of the helicopter and sat them down upon the ground.

Jaden asked, “So, you’re going to kill us like this? Like an execution right?”

Ganner replied, “Well, yes I am going to kill you, but I’m not totally convinced that killing you execution style is the best way. I might choose to go that way, but I don’t know yet. But one thing is for sure, by the end of this day, you will be nothing more then a rotting carcass Jaden. And the same will be true of all of your friends.”

Sho asked, “If that satellite is supposed to kill everything in North America, won’t it kill you too?”

Ganner laughed and said, “You’d think that wouldn’t you? But I am smarter then that. I have a way to survive the blast. After today, I will be the sole surviving being on this continent. And when that happens, I will build my own empire, upon the bodies of those I have killed.”

Alister asked him, “So, then why are we still alive? Why haven’t you killed us yet?”

Ganner replied, “Because, I want you all to suffer; maybe not physically, as much so as mentally. The mental anguish that you will experience brings me greater pleasure then just putting a bullet in your head. But make no mistake, if you try anything funny, I am not above killing you on the spot.”

Jaden said, “You’re not going to get away with this. Valon, and the others, they’ll find a way to stop you.”

Ganner said, “I’m sure that they’ll try, but I wouldn’t count on them stopping anything. You see; I hired my old weapon supplier to take them out. I knew that Bella would try and seek him out so I alerted him. He called me and told me that they were coming to his doorstep just before they did. I’m quite sure that Bella had no idea that he was working for me, so odds are, you’re friends’ dead bodies are lying on his blood-stained floor with bullets in their heads.”

Jaden said, “Keep telling yourself that, because it will make it all the more sweet when they find a way to stop you.”

Ganner said, “Keep that hope that they will stop me alive, because it will make it all the more sweet when I kill you. The second before you die, when you realize that all hope of your survival is gone, that, to me, is the most satisfying moment. So keep that hope of rescue burning so that it becomes all the more pleasant when I see it all crumble as you exhale your final breath.”

Sho said, “My brother, Valon, he’s alive, and he will not let this world die. Mark my words, Ganner, today, you will die, not us.”

Ganner laughed and said, “You? Kill me? Haven’t you all tried that one already? I think judging by the body count, things are in my favor. Look at my list, Sherry, Leo, Noah, Chazz, Leon, Sam, Dimitri, Ririko, Kelly, Brier, Edward, and all those other people who you were rooming with for months. They are all dead now. Nothing but rotting carcasses, and Brier’s body was blown to microscopic pieces. They all died, and they all died brutal deaths. You all will die a similarly painful death. But fret not; you’ll all be together, in the afterlife. Hahahahahahahahaha.”

Jaden, Sho, and Alister began to secretly worry to themselves that maybe they wouldn’t make it out of this alive.

They all began to remember their fondest moments they had spent during their lives, and most notably, the ones they had all spent with their friends. If there was one thing that they did not regret from the experiences they had suffered as a result of Ganner, it was that they met each other and became friends.

They all waited, as the clock ticked and ticked.

Valon, Alexis, Bella, Ken, Claire, and Dakota all waited. The clock ticked, the time when everything would be decided was drawing near. Everything they had fought so hard for, it all came down to this. At last, the final hour came.
